Virtuemart Expert

Joomla 1.6 was released today after a long time waiting. There are a lot of new features and important changes. Only to name the ACL and the change of the Section/Category-structure. Unfortunately, this is not for Virtuemart users.

Virtuemart 1.1.x will not work with Joomla 1.6 at the moment!

There are a lot of changes in the Joomla programming framework. Because of this, most extensions and templates have to be updated for Joomla 1.6. For Virtuemart this is extremely difficult. Because of the "old" structure of Virtuemart 1.1.x, it is a lot of work to make it compatible. We are currently trying to create a version that will work with 1.6. During the 1.6 Alphas/Betas, we had a working version (summer last year). But a lot of changes were made in the framework since then. So we decided to wait for the stable release - otherwise we had to do the work over and over again.

The Virtuemart Team does not plan to make Virtuemart 1.1.x compatible with Joomla 1.6.
